Why Should You Support the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad Foundation?

When you make a donation to the Foundation, you may designate it to help a specific rescue squad, or you may direct it to be invested in a fund that benefits the Virginia Beach volunteer rescue system as a whole.

  • Volunteers’ time on behalf of public health and safety is valued at over $22 million each year.
  • The Squads have equipment and infrastructure assets of more than $5 million, and they raise $2.1 million each year in private contributors.

the rescue squad system

The Virginia Beach Rescue Squad System is made up of over 900 volunteers that together serve the community under the coordination of the City of Virginia Beach EMS Department. Each squad is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and supports its operational needs through individual fundraising efforts. Because of these volunteer efforts, pre-hospital emergency medical care in the City of Virginia Beach is free to all and contributes to over $22 million in cost savings to the City.
