The Virginia Beach Rescue Squad Foundation is proud of its EMS Volunteers. Each May, National EMS Week pays tribute to the dedication of all emergency medical personnel. In Virginia Beach, most of our EMS professionals volunteer their time, making it the largest volunteer-based EMS system in the country. Please join the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad Foundation in showing appreciation for the personal commitment our volunteers make to save lives during EMS Week, May 20 - 26. the rescue squad system

The Virginia Beach Rescue Squad System is made up of over 1,000 volunteers that together serve the community under the coordination of the City of Virginia Beach EMS Department. Each squad is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and supports its operational needs through individual fundraising efforts. Because of these volunteer efforts, pre-hospital emergency medical care in the City of Virginia Beach is free to all and contributes to over $22 million in cost savings to the City.
